Ambedkar Unveiled in Raipur*Raipur, April 14, 2026/ In a solemn and inspiring tribute on the occasion of Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today unveiled a majestic 21-foot-tall statue of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Chowk, situated opposite the Collectorate in Raipur. The imposing installation stands as a symbol of the nation’s enduring gratitude towards the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.Addressing the distinguished gathering on the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai described Babasaheb’s life as a timeless source of inspiration, rooted in struggle, education and the pursuit of equality. He noted that under Dr Ambedkar’s visionary leadership, the Constitution of India secured dignity and justice for the deprived, marginalised and historically disadvantaged sections of society. “His thoughts continue to illuminate the path towards a more just and equitable social order,” he remarked.Responding to a demand raised by the organising committee, Shri Sai announced the sanction of Rs 60 lakh for the construction and renovation of Mangal Bhavan (function hall), community hall and other public infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the allocation would significantly strengthen community engagement and enhance civic amenities at the grassroots level.Emphasising the transformative power of the Constitution, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that it guarantees every citizen the fundamental rights of equality, liberty and justice, thereby ensuring equal opportunities for all. Highlighting the pivotal role of education, he observed that despite formidable challenges, Babasaheb attained higher education at Columbia University, exemplifying that education remains the most potent instrument of social change.He further stated that the widespread installation of Babasaheb’s statues across the country reflects the deep reverence and unwavering respect he commands among the people. Celebrations of Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti across Raipur and the state are being marked with enthusiasm and devotion, inspiring younger generations to imbibe his ideals.Recalling Ambedkar’s progressive views on women’s empowerment, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the true measure of a society’s progress lies in the status of its women. He added that the Central Government continues to take decisive steps to advance women’s empowerment across sectors.Shri Sai affirmed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India is steadfastly working to realise Babasaheb’s vision. Flagship initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission are ensuring inclusive development by reaching the last mile. He added that in alignment with the national vision of a “Viksit Bharat,” the Chhattisgarh Government is advancing with resolve towards building a “Viksit Chhattisgarh,” guided by Ambedkar’s ideals.In his concluding remarks, Chief Minister Shri Sai called upon citizens to internalise Babasaheb’s principles and actively contribute towards promoting social harmony, equality and a just societal framework.The program was attended by Skill Development Minister Shri Khushwant Saheb, Member of Parliament Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, MLA Shri Kiran Singh Deo, Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Smt.
