Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and AYUSH University in Nava Raipur, as a historic and proud occasion for the state. He welcomed vice chancellors, academicians, and students from across the country to Chhattisgarh, the &#8216;Nanihal&#8217; of Lord Shri Ram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the one-day conference, being held for the first time, will enable a wide exchange of ideas in medical education and healthcare. The outcomes, he noted, are expected to guide policy decisions and help improve access to healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Minister said the state has made steady progress in the health sector over the past two years. Construction of five new medical colleges, 14 nursing colleges and one homeopathy college is currently underway. &#8220;Healthy citizens are the foundation of a developed Chhattisgarh,&#8221; he said adding that efforts are ongoing to expand and improve healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referring to initiatives under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he said the Ayushman Bharat scheme has provided financial support of up to \u20b95 lakh to poor families, easing access to treatment. Earlier, he noted, rural families often had to take loans or sell land to afford medical care, but the situation is now changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also pointed to the growing spread of diseases such as diabetes and cancer in rural areas. To address this, initiatives like \u2018Arogya Mandir\u2019 are being promoted to encourage healthier lifestyles. He added that the Centre has decided to establish three Ayurvedic AIIMS institutions in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlighting the state\u2019s natural strengths, he said around 44 percent of Chhattisgarh\u2019s land is forested, making it rich in medicinal plants. He expressed pride in the Padma Shri honour awarded to Hemchand Manjhi for his work in Ayurveda, noting that people from abroad seek treatment from him for serious illnesses such as cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On infrastructure, Chief Minister said a Medicity hub is being developed in the capital region in Nava Raipur, which will include a 5,000-bed super-speciality hospital. He added that more than a dozen private hospitals have been launched in Raipur during his tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also referred to India\u2019s long-standing tradition of learning, citing Nalanda, Takshashila and Vikramshila as historic centres of knowledge. He said Ayurveda, rooted in ancient texts, continues to hold relevance, reflecting the country\u2019s enduring commitment to well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recalling the Covid-19 pandemic, he said India developed three vaccines under the leadership of Prime Minister and ensured protection for its population while also supporting other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Minister described doctors as holding a place next only to God in society and called upon them to continue serving with sensitivity and commitment.
